Mohammed Rustom is an associate professor of Islamic studies at Carleton University in Ottawa. His research focuses on Sufism, Islamic philosophy, and Qur’anic exegesis. He is the author of the award-winning book The Triumph of Mercy, co-editor of The Study Quran, and translator of al-Ghazali, The Condemnation of Pride and Self-Admiration. He is the recipient of both the Tarjuman Prize from the Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society and the 21st International Book of the Year Prize in Iran. For the 2018-2019 academic year, he will serve as Library of Arabic Literature Senior Fellow and Senior Humanities Research Fellow at NYU Abu Dhabi. He earned his PhD from University of Toronto’s Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations in 2009.
