H.A. Hellyer, a British scholar of politics, international affairs, and Islamic studies, is a Senior Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute in London and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C. Among his books include A Revolution Undone: Egypt’s Road Beyond Revolt and A Sublime Path: the Sufi Path of the Sages of Makka. He currently serves as a visiting professor at the University of Technology’s Raja Zarith Sofiah Centre for Advanced Studies on Islam, Science, and Civilization (RZS-CASIS) and as senior fellow of Cambridge Muslim College. He received degrees in law and political economy, before receiving his PhD from the University of Warwick, and studied with Muslim scholars in the UK, Malaysia, South Africa, and Egypt, receiving licenses from a number of them.
