Martin Nguyen

Martin Nguyen is an associate professor of Islamic religious traditions and faculty chair for diversity at Fairfield University. His current research interests include modern Muslim theology, classical Islamic Theology (Kalām and ʿAqīda), scriptural commentaries of the Qur’an (Tafsīr), Islamic mysticism and the development of the Sufi tradition, hermeneutics, and Islam in America. He completed his PhD at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies. He is the author of Sufi Master and Qur'an Scholar: Abū l-Qāsim al-Qushayri and the Laṭāʾif al-ishārāt, which explores the life of a prominent mystic and scholar of ancient Nishapur.
