Marwa Al Sabouni Bio Pic 1

Marwa Al-Sabouni

Marwa Al-Sabouni is an architect and writer based in Homs, Syria. Her vivid and compelling memoir The Battle for Home, which the philosopher Roger Scruton describes as “the expression of a beautiful soul,” argues that the seeds for the bitter sectarian conflict in Syria were planted in part by misguided urban planning that isolated historically intertwined communities. She also published Building for Hope: Toward an Architecture of Belonging in 2021. She holds a PhD in architectural design and is the cofounder of Arabic Gate for Architecture News, the world’s only website dedicated to architectural news in Arabic.
