Sylviane A. Diouf

Sylviane A. Diouf, an award-winning social historian, is a visiting professor at Brown University’s Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice. Her research interests include the trans-Atlantic and trans-Indian Ocean slave trades, West African Muslims, and resistance to slavery. She has authored and edited a dozen books, including the acclaimed Servants of Allah: African Muslims Enslaved in the Americas. She has curated thirteen exhibitions and given a keynote speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
